Mike Rarere, House Manager

I was born in Napier, raised in Tauranga, and now live in Raglan.

I’m a graduate of Te Whare Wananga o Waikato. (University of Waikato)

I began working in the Community Sector in 1993 as a Youthworker in South Auckland.

Following a couple of years based in Hong Kong where I worked in the Security Sector, I returned to NZ, working with Youth and Community based in Hamilton from 1997 until 2016.

Highlights include being the 2006 Trust Waikato Child and Family Awards ‘Outstanding Individual Service’ Recipient and producing the annual ‘Beatstreet’ Aotearoa HipHop Youth Festival 2001-2010.

Previous to my current employment, I was Manager at Te Whare o te Ata Fairfield/Chartwell Community Centre from 2014-2016 and employed by the Hamilton City Council Community Development Unit as Youth and Community Advisor 1999-2014. I have over 10 years experience in network/meeting facilitation and Radio Broadcasting. I have also had over a decade in Governance experience as a Trustee for Te Runanga o Kirikiriroa Urban Maori Authority.

Married with one child, I enjoy Martial Arts training, listening to music, reading, cooking and being with family.

 

 

Lara Toxward, Administrator (full-time)

I joined the Raglan House in January 2018.

My family and I relocated to Raglan in 2008 after many years spent living overseas. I have three lovely boys (well most of the time they are lovely!) who keep me busy when I’m not at work. I really enjoy my role at the Raglan House and feel privileged to be part of the Raglan House team.

 

 

 

Noelene Manufui, Budget Advisor (Monday & Thursday only)

I started working as a Financial Mentor at the Raglan Community House in July 2018, after completing training with the National Building Financial Capability Charitable Trust (now known as FinCap). Born and raised in West Auckland to parents of Samoan and Anglo/Irish descent, I moved to Sydney when I was a teenager. I graduated from Sydney University in 1996, then notched up just over 20 years of experience working in both the non-profit community sector and in community development within local governement. I appreciate diversity and have worked with people of all ages from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. I have managed staff, community projects and large budgets. At the same time I have raised children into adults, mainly on my own and managed to buy and sell a few different properties and move house. I guess you could say I have picked up some handy financial skills along the way. I feel very fortunate to work at the Raglan Community House two days per week to assist local residents with budget and debt reduction and I am really enjoying the local environment and learning Te Reo Maori at Poi Hakena Marae.

Paula is an experienced counsellor with a commitment to working with people so that they can live their lives in the best possible way.  Paula works with any difficulties that affect the enjoyment in life to which we are entitled.  Standing alongside other people in their world is a privilege Paula values enormously

Rachel Upston

Rachel Upston, Counsellor

Rachel is a Raglan based counsellor in private practice who has local contracts that see her working with all issues and ages.  Rachel has specialist knowledge in working with trauma and abuse.  Rachel is a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors.
